Living beautifully isn’t just a style — it’s a way of being. Ready Pretty Living was created to help women prepare for the everyday and the unexpected with softness, simplicity, and grace.
I’m Carri, creator of Ready Pretty Living, where beautiful design meets practical preparedness.
As a nurse practitioner with a background as an emergency room nurse and EMT, I’ve spent my career responding to real emergencies. Through countless shifts in the ER and ambulance calls, I witnessed firsthand how preparation—or the lack of it—affects people during life’s unexpected moments. But I also learned something crucial: we live everyday life, not in a constant state of emergency. This realization sparked my journey to reimagine preparedness entirely.
Ready Pretty Living was born from my own unexpected disruptions, from extended power outages due to ice storms to a flooded home after a hurricane. Through these experiences, I discovered that true resilience doesn’t come from fear-based stockpiling hidden away in closets. Instead, it comes from creating beautiful systems that enhance your everyday life while quietly ensuring you’re ready for whatever life brings.
I combine my healthcare expertise with my passion for home design to create what I call “Soft Prepping”—a gentle approach that weaves preparedness into the beauty of your daily life. My goal isn’t to make you think about emergencies constantly. It’s to create calm and peace so that if your power goes out for a week, or if you need to suddenly leave your home, you don’t worry. You have beautiful, thoughtful systems already in place.
Because emergency preparedness shouldn’t feel like a burden or an exercise in fear. It should be a gentle practice that brings calm confidence to your everyday life, turning your home into a sanctuary that’s always ready, always beautiful, and always peaceful.
Let me help you create your own beautiful preparedness that serves you every single day.
I’m Kayla, co-creator of Ready Pretty Living and a certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. My background in OT taught me how much our environment shapes the way we feel — especially when it comes to routines, rhythms, and the small systems that support daily life.
At work and at home, I’m drawn to simplicity, softness, and function that serves beauty. I believe in the power of gentle, well-designed spaces. Ones that help us feel safe, calm, and rooted in the midst of real life.
I bring a hands-on, sensory-focused lens to Ready Pretty Living, drawing inspiration from the things I love most: my garden, making a fresh loaf of sourdough, slow mornings with my husband and our dog Cleo, and a home that feels both resilient and restful.
Together with Carri, I help design tools and systems that support women in creating a life of thoughtful preparedness — one that feels nurturing, feminine, and grounded in peace, not panic.
We’re sisters with different skill sets but the same heartbeat. We share a love for peaceful systems, a belief in beauty over chaos, a log of organization, and a calling to help other women feel supported in both the quiet moments and the unexpected ones.
Together, we blend clinical experience with creative design, nature with nurturing, and real-life readiness with soft, sacred rhythm. Ready Pretty Living is the home we’ve built from that vision, and we’re so glad you’re here.
For so long, preparedness has felt rigid, cold, or even a little overwhelming. We’re here to change that narrative. At Ready Pretty Living, we believe beauty and utility belong together.
We’re here to help you stock your pantry with intention, style your emergency kit with softness, and build slow routines that bring peace — not panic. It’s about creating calm in advance, and curating tools that feel as good as they function.
Whether you’re just beginning your preparedness journey or looking to add a little romance to your routines, we’re here to offer guidance… Softly. Every guide, every how-to, every product we share is one we’d want in our own homes: muted (mostly), multi-use, and mood-board worthy.
This space is for the women who like to be ready, but also like things to feel beautiful. For those of us who know preparedness doesn’t have to look like survival mode. It can look like peace, grace, and a warm, linen-covered shelf or a veggie-filled garden.
Preparedness isn’t panic. It’s peace.
